Remineralization Potential of PRG Barrier Coat on Primary Teeth (Paperback)

Remineralization Potential of PRG Barrier Coat on Primary Teeth (Paperback)

  • Description
Dental caries, a complex disease affecting majority of the world‟s population regardlessof age, gender, and ethnicity, is a continuous process, beginning from the atomic level ofdemineralization, progressing to initial white spots, often cause dentinal involvementeventually leading to cavitation.Recently the focus on caries treatment has shifted to the development of methods for the early stage detection of the carious lesions and the application of non-invasive treatment for these lesions by remineralization which further bridges the traditional gap between prevention, non-invasive, and surgical procedures, thereby meeting the current needs in dentistry.A new category of hybrid aesthetic restorative material introduced by Shofu Inc. (Kyoto, Japan 2000) known as Giomers incorporates the SPRG filler technology, has been found to exhibit numerous bioactiveproperties enhancing the clinical applicability. The aim of this in vitro study is to evaluate the remineralizing potential of the SPRGfiller containing coat on artificially created carious lesions in primary teeth using DIAGNODENT and assess the micro structural changes and elemental composition using SEM-EDX analysis.
