In 2019, Regina Vatterott suffered a brain bleed that resulted in her losing movement on the right side of her body and left her unable to speak. She underwent multiple brain surgeries, began physical and speech therapies, and started taking several new medications. She tried using traditional pill boxes but hated that they were not very helpful. They took forever to organize and looked like ugly medical devices. This is why she and her friends designed Ellie!
